Ecommerce growth support
Improve product and category page quality, discoverability and technical foundations — and act on the conversion opportunities that are actually agreed.
The assessment is an initial, limited review — not a full technical audit, and not free implementation.
An online store usually has two problems at the same time: not enough of the right people arrive, and some of the people who do arrive leave without buying. Working on only one of them wastes the other, so we look at both before recommending an order of work.
On the discoverability side, the common problem is uniformity — product pages carrying a title, a price and supplier copy that every competitor also has, so there is little reason for a search engine or a shopper to prefer them. On the conversion side, the causes are usually ordinary: slow mobile pages, delivery cost revealed late, missing specification detail, or a checkout that insists on an account.
We work within your platform rather than around it. Where a change needs development we will say so, and where a platform will not allow something we will say that too.
The problem
What this service addresses
Traffic and conversion are treated as one problem here, because improving either in isolation rarely changes the outcome.
- Product pages built from supplier copy, indistinguishable from competitors and thin on specification.
- Category structure organised around internal categories rather than how customers shop.
- Deep products unreachable within a few clicks, and filter or variant URLs creating duplicate pages.
- Slow mobile product pages, unoptimised images and unclear pricing or availability.
- Checkout friction: forced account creation, late shipping costs, unclear errors, limited payment options.
- No reliable view of where in the funnel visitors stop.
Who benefits
Who gets the most from this
If your situation looks like one of these, this is likely to be a sensible place to start. If it does not, we will say so rather than sell it anyway.
- Small and mid-sized stores on established platforms with steady traffic but flat sales.
- Retailers adding an online store to an existing physical business.
- Manufacturers and wholesalers selling direct for the first time.
- Stores whose catalogue was imported from supplier data and never rewritten.
- Stores preparing for a seasonal peak where the foundations need to hold.
Scope
What the work can include
The items below are the building blocks. What is actually included is agreed in writing before work starts — not everything here is right for every business.
- 01
Funnel and catalogue review
Reviewing the paths visitors take — category to product, product to cart, cart to payment — and the state of the catalogue itself, to identify where the loss concentrates before anything is changed.
- 02
Product page quality
Rewriting product content for the buyer rather than the supplier sheet: what the item is, who it suits, specification laid out consistently, delivery and returns stated on the page, and structured data for price and availability where the platform allows it.
- 03
Category and navigation structure
Categories built around how customers shop, with introductory copy that explains the range, sensible filters, and internal links so that deep products are reachable in a few clicks.
- 04
Discoverability and technical foundations
Image compression and loading behaviour, duplicate URLs from filters and variants consolidated, clean canonical signals, product sitemap coverage, and a mobile experience that holds up on an ordinary connection.
- 05
Product feeds
Preparing and submitting a clean product feed where it is relevant to the market, and keeping the product information consistent with the store itself.
- 06
Agreed conversion improvements
A prioritised list of changes to the buying path, implemented in the order agreed with you — subject to what your platform permits and what your developer can support.
Deliverables
What you receive
Deliverables are listed in the proposal and agreed before work starts, so there is no ambiguity about what is being produced.
- A written funnel and catalogue review identifying where visitors stop.
- A prioritised list of changes ordered by effort against likely value, agreed with you before implementation.
- Rewritten product and category pages for the range in scope.
- Technical corrections applied, or delivered as a precise brief for your developer.
- A product feed prepared and submitted where it applies to your market.
- A short report on what changed, with the caveat that commercial outcomes also depend on factors outside the store.
Dependencies
What depends on you or on third parties
Some of this work cannot proceed without access, approvals or a platform that allows the change. We would rather name those now than discover them mid-project.
- Administrator access to the store, or a developer we can work with directly.
- Analytics access so the review is based on observed behaviour rather than assumption.
- Product information — specifications, dimensions, materials, delivery and returns terms.
- Your approval on anything factual before it is published, and sign-off on rewritten copy.
- Platform dependency: what can be changed is limited by the platform and its theme. Some improvements require development work or an app subscription, and third-party costs such as platform fees, app subscriptions or feed tools are identified in the proposal rather than absorbed into our fee.
Engagement
How scope, duration and fees are agreed
Nothing is charged for before you have approved a written proposal. The proposal is the agreement.
Scope
Scope states the number of products or collections, whether category structure and technical work are included, and whether feed work applies to your market. Catalogues of thousands of SKUs need a different, templated approach and are scoped as such.
Duration
Project work is delivered in stages, starting with the range or collection you choose, so the approach can be judged before it is applied across the catalogue. Ongoing support, where taken, runs monthly.
Fees
Our packages start at the published prices; store work that falls outside a package, such as platform development, is quoted individually. Final fees are confirmed in a written proposal based on your business goals, scope and deliverables, and are separate from platform, app or advertising costs, none of which we resell. The proposal lists what is included, what is excluded and what third parties charge.
See the published prices
You can engage this service on its own, or as part of a coordinated combination with another area. Where services are combined, the proposal shows each area separately. See how pricing works.
Limits
What this service cannot promise
We improve visibility and digital foundations. We cannot guarantee rankings, AI citations, enquiry volumes or sales.
- We do not promise sales, revenue, conversion-rate or traffic figures.
- Commercial outcomes depend on pricing, product, demand, seasonality and competition as much as on the store itself.
- We do not run paid advertising as part of this service.
Ecommerce Growth: questions we get asked
Which platforms do you work with?
Shopify and WooCommerce most often, but the work is largely platform-independent: page structure, content quality, technical foundations and the buying path. On custom platforms we work through your developer with a written brief.
Do you run paid ads?
No. This engagement is discoverability and conversion work on the store itself. Advertising can help, but sending paid traffic to a store that loses orders is an expensive way to discover that.
How many products can you rewrite?
A number is agreed before work starts — usually your best-selling range or a single collection first, so the approach can be judged before it is applied across the catalogue. Very large catalogues need a templated approach, and we will say so when that is the better answer.
Will this increase our sales?
We cannot promise that, and would not trust anyone who does. What we can do is improve the quality of product and category pages, the technical foundations and the specific points in the buying path that are demonstrably getting in the way — and report honestly on what changed.
Can you help a store with almost no traffic?
Yes, but the order changes: category and product structure, technical foundations and feeds come first, then content. Expect the early work to be about being found before conversion improvements have much to work with.
